Volunteering in Emmaus youth camps?

Every year, during summer, Emmaus communities from France and abroad host volunteers from all around the world. You will receive accommodation and food and you will live to the rhythm of the community by taking part in the workshops as well as daily activities.

During free time, the volunteers will be given the chance to discover the area. The communities also organize events bringing together the young people, companions and leaders so that they can discuss political and social issues.

What kind of work?

Work at Emmaus takes place from 8 am to 12 am and 14 am to 18 pm, 5 days a week.

You will work according to your abilities. The main job in communities consists in collecting, sorting, renovating and reselling donated goods. You will be given the opportunity to participate in the collection of donated goods and help in the workshops and second-hand shops. Teams of two or three people with vans collect donations (furniture, clothes and various items) by individuals or companies... Workshops are set up to refurbish and renovate what has been collected. The items are sold in the shops we call “bric-a-brac”.

For what purpose?

Volunteering at Emmaus is a fantastic chance for young people and companions to meet, work together and exchange views and experience.

You will be able to discover the values (political, economic, social, cultural) we fight for as well as the daily life of an Emmaus community.

The sales revenue enables each community to self sustain and to organize solidarity actions at the local, national and international levels.
